ARTIST STATEMENT

I use the power of art to explore the intersection of tradition, innovation, and philosophical inquiry. My practice bridges classical Western thought and African visual philosophy, drawing deeply from the aesthetics, cultural values, and indigenous ceramic knowledge of the Yoruba people of southwestern Nigeria. Through contemporary innovations and experimental techniques, I create narrative-driven, figurative ceramic sculptures, multimedia prints, and installations that explore themes of identity, cultural memory, theological allegory, and political critique.
To me, ceramics is more than a material—it is a voice: a language of healing, resistance, and connection. By combining traditional hand-building methods with contemporary approaches such as stoneware, glazed surfaces, and mixed clay bodies, I craft works that are both emotionally resonant and intellectually engaged. Guided by a strong moral vision and a commitment to social responsibility, my practice embraces the tactile nature of clay—how it invites touch, holds human presence, and connects maker and viewer through the physical experience of material.
I position ceramics as a transformative medium capable of fostering dialogue around peace, justice, and our shared humanity. Through this approach, I aim to bridge cultural divides and contribute meaningfully to global contemporary art discourse.
